Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema)

(Derma means “skin” and itis means “inflammation”)

A skin condition that causes dry, rough, itchy, and inflamed skin.

It’s common in young children but can occur at any age and often appears as red, scaly, scabby or bumpy patches, particularly in areas where the skin folds, like the inside of the elbows or behind the knees, face, and neck. The lesions might span the entire body in certain instances, except perhaps the diaper area.

The terms “eczema” and “atopic dermatitis” are often used interchangeably, but eczema actually is a broader term encompassing several types of dermatitis.

People with atopic dermatitis are at risk of developing food allergies, hay fever and asthma.

In January of last year, a seven-year-old girl was brought to me with widespread eczema involving her scalp, face, neck, arms and legs, particularly on the inner folds, and the entire trunk – front and back (unfortunately, I missed taking the pics of the front). Her parents had tried all possible treatments, including allopathy, ayurveda, and naturopathy and discontinued. None could give her respite from the condition. She exhibited a significant family history of allergies. All three of her paternal uncles suffered from the disease (in a much worse form) for many years. The family was now looking at Homoeopathy as a potential saviour.
While carefully taking down her history, it was brought to my notice that, in their heightened desperation, on someone’s suggestion, they had been applying the child’s urine to the lesions for the past couple of days. I literally had to Google to check what this was!!

Her lesions were very dry, thick, scabby and inflamed, with intense itching and burning (probably more so, due to the application of acidic urine). She would start to bleed after scratching. Bathing made it worse. After advising them to stop the so-called “urine therapy”, she was started on oral homoeopathic medication and a simple topical application of coconut oil.

Here’s how the child journeyed through safe and gentle homoeopathic care spanning 6 months…

Her homoeopathic medication was stopped about five months ago. The last pics were requested 2 days ago (29.04.2025), and the parents were happy to oblige with gratitude :).

  1. Hello Dr. Madan,
I have a similar growth on the front of my tongue. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss homeopathic treatment.

  2. Yes, I am a severe sufferer and can confirm this is a hellish existence I would not wish upon my worst enemy and I am suicidal all day every day but refusing to give up, continuing to seek help, do my own research and I trust that eventually something has to give way and I will be healed.
